St. Pete Beach House: A Creative Collaboration

This waterfront home in St. Pete had a dark, gloomy kitchen – exactly the opposite of what anyone would want in a beach house. The homeowners came to us with a design in hand.  They’d already decided which walls to remove to create a light and airy kitchen better suited to their oceanfront location, and to accommodate their budget, they opted to do some of the work themselves. Our kitchen designers were more than happy to help them put the finishing touches in place.

As the photographs illustrate, the results were nothing less than spectacular!

The CabinetsThe Cabinets

The homeowners had a vision in mind, and overall, a neutral color palette was more important to this client than any particular door style. Our kitchen consultant was able to pass a KraftMaid promotion on to our customer, allowing them to choose a discounted door style that suited their needs in the finishes that fulfilled their vision.

In addition, our expertise allowed us to:

The cabinets and embellishments combine to create a classic yet contemporary architecturally inspired kitchen that perfectly complements this beachfront home.

The Countertops

The clients faced a unique challenge in that they have five children, some of whom are still quite young. The counters needed to be sturdy and easy to care for while still preserving the neutral palette, overall design and airy atmosphere of the kitchen.

The CountertopsBased on the customers’ needs and wishes, our rep suggested Berkeley by Cambria, a relatively new pattern from a premier supplier of composite quartz countertops.

The Flooring

In beach houses, worn, natural wood floors conjure images of driftwood and surfaces gently abraded by the sea. Unfortunately, natural wood is easily damaged and tends to warp and splinter in damp, humid environments.

With the help of our flooring specialist, our client was able to select Boardwalk porcelain wood tiles that mimic the look of natural wood in a more uniform, durable material. The tiles have a hint of green that echoes the sage island cabinets and a weathered finish that perfectly suits this vintage-inspired family kitchen.

This project illustrates the versatility of our Gulf Tile consultants. Although the homeowners chose to do much of the work themselves, we were able to support them in completing their existing design. Our contractor assisted with some electrical work and installed the cabinets. Our representatives were able to explain the options, offer suggestions and find the perfect products to transform this waterfront kitchen from a dark and gloomy space into a seaside showplace filled with sunshine.
